Cocaine is processed and packaged before it is sold and shipped. This hollow mahogany mold is used to press cocaine syrup into solid blocks. Manufacturers pour cocaine into the wooden mold and press out excess water, which flows through the tiny holes drilled in its sides. Typically, the cocaine blocks weigh one kilogram, or 2.2 pounds, each. The mold can also shape cocaine powder into bricks that are easier to transport. The handles on its side are a reminder of the tedious human labor behind cocaine production.
